Georgia Pass

During my thru-hike of the Colorado Trail, Georgia Pass filled me with awe. I’d camped just below treeline the night before, and I woke up to a chilly, icy morning. As I ascended the Pass, the rising sun made the frozen vegetation sparkle and highlighted Mount Guyot, which rose dramatically along the Continental Divide.
In this felting (20″x16″, 2017), I sought to capture the rugged beauty of Georgia Pass. Giant Mount Guyot forms the backdrop of the scene, a sharp, rocky mountain adorned with patches of greenery. Wispy clouds spread across the blue sky of a morning in the Rockies. In the foreground is a weathered Colorado Trail marker.
