“Crater Lake” pays homage to one of the seven national parks along the Pacific Crest Trail, which I hiked along last summer. Dozens of gradations of blue, each mixed from various hues of pre-dyed wool, may be found in the nearly-cloudless sky and the water of the deepest lake in the United States. From the center of the lake rises the volcanic Wizard Island, dotted with evergreens. In the foreground, trees, grasses, and a few wildflowers grow steadfastly on the steep banks of the rim.
